CrossWave seeks to equip, challenge, mobilize, and establish an “emerging generation” team of young people (ages 11-20) who want to respond to the Great Commission and follow the Great Commandment. We recognize that young people have the spiritual capacity to follow wholeheartedly after God; they can GO and SERVE now!
CrossWave is an outreach of Gateway Christian Fellowship in Raleigh NC, and operates as a year-round King’s Kids GO Network team in partnership with families coming from over twenty local churches. We follow the discipleship principles from the Youth With a Mission King’s Kid ministry. Our mission is to help kids to know God, to love others, and to make Jesus Christ known to all peoples. In CrossWave, young people are encouraged to develop their relationship with Jesus and to joyfully love and obey Him. They learn to share the good news of Jesus Christ through the performing arts, music, practical service, personal witness, and much more! They are challenged to learn God’s truth, to recognize His voice, and to believe His Word that will transform them through all the situations they face in life.
Each year's team begins as follows: Students submit applications to join the team in May, then a “Training Camp” is held for four days in August, followed by team meetings one weekend each month throughout the year, ending with a missions trip the following summer. Each weekend event includes Bible study, worship, prayer, practice, outreach, personal devotions, group discussion, fellowship, and fun. We’ll sleep on the floor, clean everything in sight, help each other, make new friends, and learn that life is not about us, but about glorifying the One Who loves and gave His life for us. CrossWave also seeks to enable lasting friendships that provide young people with encouragement and counsel they need as they navigate the rapids kids face during the years of adolescence.
Typically, CrossWave will minister in a local church's Sunday morning worship service each month, as well as other opportunities God brings throughout the year. Several times during the year there is travel involved, so as a practical matter, we require parents to be involved in the ministry, and to make sure that there is a solid commitment to attend and support each monthly meeting and outreach.
